Lincoln ArboretumÂ
6th November 2015
The arboretum is a park located in the city of Lincoln. It is a woodland–like area which is why I investigated it as a possible location for my setting. It is a well maintained area so it may be more idealistic for a colourful shoot where the area needs to look clean. However, there are some shaded areas which may be better areas of the park to try shooting in. The overbearing trees that reside these areas provide more shadows and may help me to achieve a gloomy, dark effect in my images. These images were taken during the autumn season so I am aware that shoots that may take place later on in the year will mean that there may be less leaves on the trees, meaning bare branches are likely to be in shot, and there may not be any dead leaves scattered across the ground. I may re-visit this location during the winter season so that the area will look more neglected which may provide a better look for my stylisation. If I choose this as my final location, I am aware that during the shoots I will have to be careful with framing so as not to include and buildings in the background or any bins, park benches or fences/gates etc .
South Common, Canwick Hill, Lincoln
4th November 2015
This location is just outside of central Lincoln. The combination of the foggy weather on the day of this shoot, and the arrangement of the spread out trees makes this location look very desolate. It is also not a very well maintained area, with many over grown plants and over grown grass. This neglected area may provide a good location for my final shoot as an over-grown, untidy environment may give an uneasy feeling to the images. These images were taken during the autumn season so as my final shoot may take place later on in the year, I have taken into account that there may be less leaves on the trees and it is more likely that my subject will be surrounded by bare tree branches. However, it is evident from the photos of nearly-bare tress that with the fog combined, they certainly create a very eerie effect. I have also taken into consideration that these foggy weather conditions will most likely not be the same on any future shoots, so if this is an effect that I wish to take forward, post production work may be required to achieve such effects
